Transition Zone Turf Care
Lynchburg and Forest, VA sit squarely in the turfgrass "Transition Zone". This means our climate supports both cool-season grasses (like Tall Fescue) and warm-season grasses (like Bermuda or Zoysia), but the weather extremes are highly stressful for both.
In summer, we raise our mowing decks to 4 inches. Tall grass shades the root zone, trapping vital moisture and preventing soil overheating. For warm-season Bermuda, we adjust our cutting decks lower in spring to stimulate horizontal stolon growth and dense turf striping.
